Sister Mary Cullen, 85, formerly Sister Miriam Aquinas, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died August 6, 2016 at her home in Morristown, NJ.
Sister Mary was born in Morristown, New Jersey, the daughter of Edward and Mary Anna (Jerman). She entered the Sisters of Charity on October 2, 1949 and was a member for Sixty-six years.
Sister Mary graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education and from Barry College, FL with a M.A. degree in Religious Education. Sister Mary served in the education ministry in the State of New Jersey. She served as a Elementary teacher at St. Michael School, Union City; Corpus Christi School, Hasbrouck Heights; St. Cecilia School, Kearny; St. Vincent Martyr School, Madison. She was coordinator of Religious Education at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Whippany; St. Anne Parish, Fairlawn; Guardian Angel Parish, Allendale; St. Clement Parish, Rockaway. Sister Mary also held a certificate in Spiritual Development from the School of Spirituality, Yonkers, NY. At the time of her death she was a staff member in the Office of Financial Services at Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Mary was predeceased by her parents Edward and Mary Anna Cullen; her brother Edward and his wife, Mary; her brother-in-law, Samuel Giordano; and, sister-in-law Linda Cullen.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sisters Alice Giordano and Nancy Bower and her husband Jack; a brother, Paul; twelve nieces and nephews; and, twenty grandnieces and grandnephews.
