Obituary of STEPHEN J. HERNICK

Stephen J. Hernick, Jr. passed away Wednesday evening, August 10, 2016 at Onora Health Center in Ocean Township following an extended illness. He was 84. Born in Ringoes, NJ, he was raised in Flemington and had lived in Kearny before coming to Montville nearly 6 years ago. Mr. Hernick served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He had worked as a Yard Master with the New York, and later, New Jersey Cross Harbor Railroad in Bayonne for 37 years retiring 22 years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Mary (nee Purcell) in 2013, and several siblings. Survivors include his four children, Janis Mangione and her husband John of Montville, Lynn Winograd of Eatontown, Stephen Hernick and his wife Gloria of Tewksbury, and Todd Hernick and his wife Madi of Saddle Brook; a sister, Dorothy Khron of Colorado; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
