Sister Eileen Dolan, formerly Sister Charles Mary, 91, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at The Villa at Florham Park, Florham Park, NJ.
Sister Eileen was born in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Egan) Dolan. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 25, 1943 and was a member for 73 years.
Sister Eileen graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.A. degree in Music and from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC with a M.A. degree in Music and a DMA degree in Music. Sister Eileen served in the education ministry in New Jersey. She taught at St. Anastasia School, Teaneck; St. Vincent Martyr School, Madison; St. Margaret of Scotland School, Morristown; Sacred Heart School, Newark; Bayley-Ellard High School, Madison; and St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. She was the Music Supervisor for Sisters of Charity schools and for the Archdiocese of Newark. Sister Eileen taught at Mother Seton Regional High, Clark. She taught music at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, was Chair of the Music Department. She was music minister at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Scotch Plains; was music consultant at the Byzantine Catholic Diocesan Center, West Paterson; worked for the Cause of Sister Miriam Teresa, Convent Station. In 2011, Sister Eileen moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews.
