Eugene "Gene" F. Seugling, a consummate gentleman, died Tuesday evening, November 15, 2016 at Morristown memorial Hospital. He was 91.
Born in Glen Ridge, he was a lifelong resident of Parsippany.
Mr. Seugling served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany. He later graduated from the New York University School of Design.
He had worked as an interior decorator for many years and was the proprietor of G.I. McNeil Interior Decorating of Summit before his retirement in 1985.
Mr. Seugling was the oldest living member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany where he served as a parish trustee, finance council member, lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3401 of Morris Plains, Elks Lodge #2078 of Parsippany, and served as a member of the Domestic Abuse Crisis Response Team in Parsippany.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta A. (nee Maier) in 1996. Survivors include his four loving children, Christian Seugling and his fiancée Ann Marie McClain of Denville, Bryan Seugling and his life partner Janeen Keefe of Andover, Edward Seugling and his wife Harriet of Sparta, and Kathy Scaffidi and her husband Paul of Hope; six grandchildren, R.J. Anderson, Kayla Anderson, Kimberly Anderson, Eddie Seugling, Heather Seugling, and Christian Scaffidi; six step-grandchildren, Kristin Friedlich, Jennifer Taule, Michael McClain, Kaitlin McClain, Amanda Aulicino, and Nicole Scaffidi, and three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ayla Friedlich, and Penelope McClain.
