Obituary of SISTER CATHERINE SHEA

Sister Catherine Shea, 98, formerly Sister Catherine Maureen, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Friday, November 18, 2016 at The Villa at Florham Park, Florham Park, N.J. Sister Catherine Shea was born in Co. Kerry, Ireland, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Lynch) O'Shea. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1936 and was a member for 80 years. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, with a B.S. degree in Education. Sister Catherine was an educator in New Jersey and in Puerto Rico. She was a teacher at Our Lady of Grace School, Hoboken; St. Anthony School, Guayama, P.R.; St. Catherine School, Darlington; Star of the Sea Academy, Long Branch; St. Anastasia School, Teaneck; Our Lady Help of Christians, East Orange; and St. Joseph School, West Orange. She was an Office Assistant for the Sisters of Charity at Convent Station and resided there until 2013. She then became a resident at the Villa where she resided until her death. Sister Catherine was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Michael, Patrick, Mary, Jenny, and Sheila. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews in the United States and Ireland.
