Obituary of JEANNE CHIMES

Jeanne Chimes (nee Hopfenberg) passed away Saturday evening, December 10, 2016 in West Caldwell, NJ. She was 95. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she had lived many years in Livingston, NJ and Monroe, NJ, before coming to West Caldwell six years ago. Mrs. Chimes earned her Bachelors Degree from Kane College in 1974. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and active volunteer. Mrs. Chimes was a longtime member of the National Council of Jewish Women and had been active with the Sisterhood of Temple Emanu-Elel of Livingston. She also spent nearly 20 years researching the family genealogy and publishing her findings in the book book "Relatively Yours, A History of the Chimes and Hopfenberg Families and their Journeys to America." Her husband of 57 years, Daniel Chimes died in 2005. She is survived by her children, Arthur Chimes and his partner Veronique La Capra of Falmouth, Mass, Michael Chimes and his wife Claudia Hesler of Allamuchy, NJ, and Nancy Herman and her husband Mitchell of Montville, NJ; and a granddaughter, Lara Herman of Hoboken, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for memorial donations is support of Alzheimer's research.
