John Orr passed away suddenly Saturday evening, February 18, 2017 at his home in Sussex. He was 72. Born in Bronx, NY, John was raised in Paterson, and had lived over 30 years in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany before moving to Sussex three years ago. Mr. Orr served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a paratrooper with the 82n Airborne. He was employed as a Welder and Assembler with the Pace Company of Fairfield before retiring in 2012. Previously, he worked in the same capacity with Manhaffey and Harter, also of Fairfield . John was a longtime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Post # 2078 in Parsippany. He was preceded in death by his wife Michele (nee Castellano) Orr in 2012, and two sisters, Sandra Bradbury and Carol Boccadutre'. Survivors include his daughter, Shannon Ortiz and her husband Manny of Sussex; two sons, Michael Wise and his wife Susan of Stanhope, and Keith Wise and his wife Morgan of Boonton Township; his brother, Patrick Orr and his wife Mona of West Palm Beach, FL., and eleven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in John's memory, care of the family.
