John MacDougall, 97, passed away Thursday morning, March 2, 2017 at The Oaks at Denville.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he immigrated to the United States in 1929 at the age of 10. He had lived in Michigan before coming to Parsippany in the early 1960s. He was a resident of Denville since 2004.
Mr. MacDougall earned his BS in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University in 1941.
He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Okinowa, Japan.
Mr. MacDougall had worked as an automotive engineer with AT&T in Basking Ridge for 31 years before his retirement.
He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the "Friday Night Dinner Club."
John was preceded in death by his wives, Margaret Mays (Gentry) in 1967 and Patricia (Wade) in 2000, and a son, Marcus MacDougall in 2009. Survivors include his children, John MacDougall of Boonton Township, David MacDougall of Brooklyn, NY, William Fuellhart of Whippany, Kathrine Fuellhart of Doylestown, PA, and Rebecca McKeever of Rockaway Township; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
