I only met Sal twice in the past 3 months....through my dear friend Carol Sierchio whose husband is buried in the vault right next to Sal's wife Maria. Carol and Sal became friends 5 years ago when Sal lost his wife. Carol's husband had died 2 years prior to Maria. Carol and Sal would visit their spouses at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Sundays and sometimes on Wednesdays. He was such a good and endearing friend and Carol and he often had breakfast or lunch after their visits. Twice I joined them and in talking with Sal found out that his wife had lived 2 doors away from me in Newark (15th Street) where I grew up. He was a wonderful person and so kind to Carol as she was devastated by the sudden loss of her husband. I am so very happy that I was able to meet Sal and hope he rests in peace always and with his wife Maria Grace. Karen McMullen
