He was so nice to my brother and me when we were kids with handling our pets. So sad to hear this.

I first met Sal in the early 1960's through long time friend and fellow aquarist Fred Lepple, who worked at the Park Pet store on 16th Avenue in Newark. I was immediately struck by Sal's sense of humor as well as his keen sense of business, and I enjoyed our frequent trips to the store to both buy some tropical fish and to hear some funny stories. I also noticed that he had many regular and repeat customers which is a tribute to his character, honesty and trustworthiness. Regrettably, and as so often happens, I fell out of contact with Sal, but I often thought of him. He was a terrific person, and I offer my sympathy to his family. Stan Gorski.

I first met Sal at his Park Pet store in Newark in the late 50's. Later on I worked at the store and learned so much about pets, retail sales and proper treatment of customers. Sal had many keen insights on a variety of topics and his Army experiences. I have benefitted from both his advice and his trust in me (as a teenager!) be responsible for the store in his absence . He was a wonderful friend and I will miss our periodic phone conversations. My sincerest condolences to Diana, Steve and family. Fred Lepple

My most profound sympathies to the family. I remember buying pets at his store as a child. He was always patient and helpful despite my constant indecisiveness on what i wanted. A very kind man .
