Estelle Freeman (nee Smith) passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 17, 2017 at her home in Lake Hiawatha, surrounded by her loving family. Estelle was a caring, giving and selfless woman. Her positive attitude was present throughout her life and she had a smile that lit up a room. Born and raised in Far Rockaway, NY, she had lived in Jersey City before coming to Lake Hiawatha in 1955. Estelle was a Nutrition Site Manager with the Township of Morris Meals on Wheels for 28 years before retiring 15 years ago. Previously, she had been a substitute teacher at Knollwood School. She was a longtime, active member of the former Lake Hiawatha Jewish Center and its Sisterhood, as well as the Pine Brook Jewish Center. She was also a 30-year volunteer and former membership chairwoman at the Lake Hiawatha Swim Club. Preceded in death by her first husband, Milton Brodsky in 1973, and her siblings, Gerald Smith and Rae Figdor; she is survived by her husband of 40 years, Ernest Freeman; four daughters, Susan Ader (Jeff) of Colorado Springs, Co., Ellen Welch (Bob) of Andover, NJ, Arlene Ballenberg (Bob) of Long Valley, NJ, and Gail Trulli (Steve) of Melrose, MA.; seven grandchildren, Michael, Elyse, Marissa, Eric, Nat, Matthew, and Daniel; and five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Kennedy, Grace, Max, and Grayson. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the charity of one's choice.
