Obituary of MARGOT A. MIKO

Margot A. Miko, born Oct 27, 1933 passed away Feb 4, 2018 in Morristown Medical Center surrounded by family. Her husband of 54 years, Al and her daughter Kathleen predeceased her, as well as her brother, Walter and sister, Marion. She is survived by her sister, Sister Mary of the Sisters of Charity, along with son Kevin, and daughters Laura, Debbie and Patty. She was also the beloved grandmother of Timmy, Annie, Julia, Caroline and Emma. She will also be missed by sons in law, Tom Carroll, Bob Nelson, Jimmy Cullen and Tommy Carmel. Margot was born and raised in Jersey City. She and husband Albert were married in 1953 and later moved to Maplewood, NJ where they lived for over 45 years as active community and St Joseph Parish members. They then moved to their home in Stroudsburg, PA where she resided surrounded by helpful and kind neighbors until her passing. After raising five children, Margot graduated college with a degree in Landscape Design from Rutgers University in 1992. For over 10 years, Margot was a basketball official with NJSIAA. She was employed at Maplelith, FPS, the Township of Maplewood and later, was self-employed. She was a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church activities and Habitat for Humanity. Margot was a loving, creative and strong role model. She had many talents and interests. She excelled artistically especially in painting, creating and in design. She loved horticulture, her dogs, basketball, and she was an avid Yankee fan. Margot was a loyal member of St Luke's Catholic Church in Stroudsburg for the past 14 years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family. She will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be greatly appreciated.
