Barbara Lynn Hockey (nee Benson) passed away peacefully Tuesday morning May 22, 2018 at her home in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany. She was 68.
Born in Newark,NJ, she was raised in Florham Park, NJ and had lived in East Hanover, NJ before coming to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany 28 years ago.
Mrs. Hockey was a 1968 graduate of Hanover Park High School and was the first student accepted to the St. Barnabas School of Practical Nursing in Livingston, NJ.
She had an extensive career in nursing, as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the NJ Firemen's Home of Boonton, and Troy Hills Center in Parsippany before retiring ten years ago.
Mrs. Hockey was a longtime volunteer and Captain with the East Hanover Volunteer First Aid Squad. She was also an avid Jets fan. She and her husband, Ralph enjoyed travelling the country in their RV attending Jets games.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Ralph Hockey; a daughter, Jennifer Hodierne and her husband Thomas; a son, Robert Hockey and his wife Colleen all of Lake Hiawatha; and five grandchildren, Justine, Terry, Robbie, Alyssa, and Caitlyn.
