Sister Nancy Anne Haarer, 80, (formerly Sister Anne Imelda), a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Saint Joseph's Healthcare and Rehab Center in Cedar Grove, NJ.
Sister Anne was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of George and Rosella (Schwind) Haarer. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 6, 1956 and was a member for 61 years.
Sister Anne graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. degree in Art and from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana with a M.A. degree in Art. Sister Anne was an educator in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Paul School, Clifton and Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair. She served as an Instructor, Chairwoman, and Associate Professor of Art at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station. She moved to Saint Joseph's Healthcare and Rehab Center in Cedar Grove, NJ in 2018 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her brother and sister-in-law, G. Donald and Beth Anne Haarer from Corona del Mar, CA, nieces, Sara Volbert, Nancy Stack, Sue Ellen O'Connor, Julianne Armstrong, Anne Morris, and nephew, Mark Haarer; and 15 great-nieces and great-nephews.
