Obituary of FRED R. RUTIGLIANO

Please share a memory of FRED to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fred Rutigliano passed away Thursday June 28, 2018 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. He was 87. Fred was born in NYC and grew up in Brooklyn. During high school he was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corps. After high school Fred entered the Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He later attended Pace University, taking classes at night. While working at The JM Best & Co. Fred met the love of his life, Alice. In 1953 Fred and Alice married and began their life together. In 1967 Fred and family moved to NJ, were he resided until his death. They were married until Alice's passing in 1979. Fred worked in the Human Resource Management field for Faberge for over 25 years, retiring at the age of 62. He was well respected and liked by his co-workers. If you were to speak to anyone who knew Fred, they would tell you of his amazing sense of humor and good will. These qualities earned Fred the respect as well as the admiration of his co-workers and friends. Fred had an infectious laugh which he could summon at will. In fact, at family gatherings Fred would walk over to family members and begin to laugh. First, very quietly, then eventually he would take it up to full blown laughter. The room would break out in laughter with Fred. It was at this point that he would leave the room, leaving everyone doubled over in laughter. Fred did this at every family gathering until it became a right of passage for new family members, they would have to be infected by Fred's laughter. Fred could be seen walking around town talking to people and sharing that sense of humor. Fred enjoyed life very much; he loved fishing, especially fresh water bass fishing, watching old movies and reading books. He was a sports fan and of course he enjoyed watching his beloved NY Giants and NY Yankees. Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife; Alice (nee Hoefler), his sisters; Lena Costello, Angie DiStefano and Laura Feeney, and his brother; Vito Rutigliano. He is survived by; his daughter, Carol Donahue of Lafayette, IN, his son; Dr. Michael Rutigliano of Lake Hiawatha and his companion, Donna Berardi of Mahwah. His sisters; Clarie Hipius and Millie Slusar, as well as his grandchildren; Jason Martin of IN. Dr. Victoria Conlen and her husband, Darren of PA, Michael Jr. and Vanessa Rutigliano of NJ, and their mother; Elizabeth Rutigliano.
