Obituary of MICHAEL PATRICK SANTORO

Michael Patrick Santoro Jr., 89, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Newark, he had lived in the Whippany section of Hanover, since 1968. Mr. Santoro was a 1951 graduate of the Pennsylvania Military College, Chester, PA, with honors in chemistry. He served as a captain in the United States Army during the Korean Era and the Army Reserves for 18 years. A chemist, Mr. Santoro was the founder and owner of the Galaxie Chemical Corporation of Paterson for 42 years, retiring 8 years ago. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Whippany and a charter member and 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, Elizabeth Ann Seton Council # 6904 of Whippany. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marie M. (nee Teresa) the love of his life; five children, Andrea M. Adamcik (John) of East Hanover, Donna M. Santoro of Whippany, Janine M. Schwab (Michael) of Parsippany, Michael P. Santoro III, MD (Sonia) of Freehold, and Charles R. Santoro Sr. (Jodi) of East Hanover; ten grandchildren, Marie Gaudert, Michael and Carmelo Bianchi, Gabrielle, Michael and Brandon Schwab, Michael IV and Sonia Santoro, and Kaitlin and Charles Santoro Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Luciana, Michael Jr., Dominic and Carmelo Jr. for those so desiring, memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959
