Sr. Jacqueline was Dean of Studies during my time at St. Elizabeth's. I was not quite the model student, but she was always very fair with me. She had me stop by her office one day to discuss my lack of attendance. She stated a number for all the classes I cut, and in my shock, I said I didn't realize there was a tally. She replied they were nuns and they counted everything.
A brilliant, gracious and patient woman, and I was glad to have been influenced by her.

Sister Jacqueline was, like me, a Kearny girl. I graduated from the College during the years that Sister Jacqueline was at Catholic University, and I got to know her later as a member of the President's Council. She was one of the great leaders of the College and of the community of the Sisters of Charity, taking on the role of College president at a perilous financial time. She led with intelligence, grace, dignity, and a passion that the College would continue to thrive and make a mark on higher education for women. Sister Jacqueline often told me she loved being a Sister of Charity, a call to ministry that she experienced at a very young age. Surely a woman of her brilliance could have done anything with her life. That she chose to be part of a religious community vowed to live out boundless charity speaks to her faith, her commitment to furthering the role of women in Church and society, and her fearlessness in bringing God's light to a broken world. Rest in peace, Sister Jacqueline. Job well done. Pamela Klainer Class of 1967
