Michael Angelo Palma, 94, passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 22, 2018 at his home in Montville surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Paterson, NJ , he had lived in Parsippany, NJ for 54 years before coming to Montville, NJ in 2016.
Mr. Palma served in World War II from 1943-1946 in the 4th Marine Division and participated in the battles of Saipan and Tinian. He was later assigned to the 2nd Marine Division and participated in the Okinawa Campaign. His division landed in Nagasaki Harbor five weeks after the atomic bomb was dropped.
He had worked as a design engineer with the Curtiss Wright Company of Fairfield, and later Pine Brook, retiring in 2005 after 55 years with the company.
Mr. Palma was a member of St. Pius X R.C. Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 5481 of Montville and the Montville Seniors.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Claire M. Palma (nee Perrelli); his beloved son, Michael J. Palma and his wife, Carol of Pine Brook; and his two grandchildren, Lauren Michele and Michael Robert Palma. Michael was preceded in death by his three sisters, Frances Clegg, Carrie Titus, and Grace DeBlasi.
