James (Jim) Boyle passed away Friday October 5, at Morristown Hospital. He was 90.
Born January 26, 1928 to James & Myrtle in Paterson, NJ where he resided until moving to Parsippany, NJ in 1980. He served in the US Navy before joining the Postal Service. He was appointed a Postal Inspector in the New York Division where he was assigned to the fraud section. He investigated various fraud cases before being transferred to Brooklyn where he was in charge of accident investigations. Later he was promoted to the Northeast Regional office as Branch Manager of security and later to Branch Manager of Fraud & Prohibited Mailings. He returned to the New York Division as project Coordinator, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Boyle was a charter member of Mary Help of Christians, Knights of Columbus Council #6805 where he served in various offices including Grand Knight. A member of the Msgr. Stein Fourth Degree Assembly of the K of C serving as the Faithful Navigator. He served 4 years as District Deputy an was appointed to be Chairman of the state scholarship fund for 8 years.
Mr. Boyle joined the National Active Retired Federal Employees Association, Paterson Chapter 319 serving as president among other offices. He was active with the State Federation of NARFE Chapters being elected state president, 1992-1994.
He was an arbitrator for the BBB Auto-Line program for several years and was a member of the Holy Name Speakers Bureau.
Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jane, and his two sons, Brian and his wife Pamela of Ft. Myers, Fl, Kevin and his wife Terry of Aberdeen, NJ. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristin and her fiancé Holger of Ft. Myers, Fl, Brian Jr. and his husband Matt of Bolton, MA, Patrick and his wife Nadia of Paterson, NJ, and Meaghan of San Francisco, CA, and great-grandson Christopher of Bolton MA.
