Robert James Johnson, Jr. passed away Monday evening, October 29, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 93.
Born in Passaic, NJ, he was a resident of Nutley, Bloomfield, Caldwell, and Barnegat before moving to Budd Lake 5 years ago. He and his late wife Dorothy also enjoyed summers at their home on Long Beach Island.
Mr. Johnson served honorably in the United States Army during World War II.
He had worked as realtor with Johnson Realty in Bloomfield which was founded by his late father. He also worked as an appraiser for the US Veterans Administration in NJ, and served as a Tax Assessor with the municipalities of Roseland, Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, and Fairfield.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Roseland and the Army Black Hawks.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy (nee Gogarty); he is survived by three children, Kathleen M. Madden of Flanders, NJ, Robert J. Johnson III of Budd Lake, NJ, and Karen Johanson and her husband John of Shelburne, VT; a brother, Calvin Johnson and his wife Barbara of Boynton Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Neary and her husband Grant, Meghan Martinez and her husband Alex, Michael Madden, Kyle Johnson and his wife Heather, Kerry Johnson, Chris Johanson, Amy Johanson and her fiancée Austin Krom, and Kim Ratner; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel Martinez, and Finley, Jack, and Patrick Neary. His second great-granddaughter is expected in the near future.
