Obituary of SISTER JOAN WICKERS

Sister Joan Wickers, (formerly Sister Catherine Robert), Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, 83, died Tuesday, November 27 at The Villa, Florham Park, NJ. Sister Joan was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the daughter of Elmer and Kathryn (Griffin) Wickers. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 6, 1953 and was a member for 65 years. Sister Joan graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. in Education, MEd in Special Education from William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey and MS in Religious Studies from Fordham University, Bronx, New York. Sister Joan was an Educator in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, East Orange; teacher and Principal in St. Joseph School, Echo Lake, West Milford; Sacred Heart School, Dover; Administrative Assistant to the pastor and then became Director of Religious Education at St. Therese, School, Succasunna. She was a Manager of the Development Office, Maurice Brick Residence, Dover. She was Director of Activities at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station and P/T Food Service Coordinator at Xavier Center, Convent Station. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2015 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Sister Anita Constance, a friend for 50 years. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O.
