Obituary of ANNE TRACEY BELCASTRO

Anne Therese "Tracey" Belcastro (nee McDermott), wife of Douglas J. Belcastro, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover, following a pedestrian-auto accident on Rt. 15 in Jefferson, NJ. She was 64 years young. Born in 1954 in Montclair, NJ, to the late Patrick Philip and Natalie (Roberts) McDermott, Tracey was raised in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ. As an adult, she lived in Anaheim, CA, Lima, NY, and Virginia Beach, VA, before moving to Lake Hopatcong, NJ, 16 years ago. Her son, Joe Belcastro, graduated from Jefferson High School in 2007. Anne Therese was a graduate of St. Peter the Apostle School in 1968 and Parsippany High School in 1972. She graduated from the Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune in 1975 and earned her B. S. in Nursing from Seton Hall University, South Orange. A registered nurse, Mrs. Belcastro was trained in the nursing specialties of obstetrics, mental health, school nursing, and private nursing care. During her tenure, she served in various nursing capacities with the following organizations: West Essex Community Heath, Caldwell, NJ; Santa Anna County Hospital, Anaheim, CA; Highlands Municipal Hospital, Rochester, NY; Chesapeake School District and Chesapeake Health Investment Program Services, both of Virginia Beach, VA; and the Visiting Nurse Association of Morris County, NJ. Most recently, she worked with the blind for seven years at Greystone Park Hospital, Parsippany, NJ, before retiring in 2012. Mrs. Belcastro was a former parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church in Parsippany, and a current parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman R. C. Church in Lake Hopatcong, where she was a Rosarian and a choir member. She was also a member of the Servants of God Prayer Group in Pequannock, NJ. Tracey was actively involved in many churches during her lifetime, including Christian Center Jockey Hollow in Morristown, NJ. She made a mission trip to Jamaica to spread the word of God, and continued to share her love of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout her life. Anne "Tracey" Belcastro is survived by her husband of 34 years, Douglas J. Belcastro, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; their son, Joseph B. Belcastro, and his fiancée, Elizabeth M. Denson, both of Hoboken, NJ. Survivors also include: Eight (8) siblings and their spouses: Lynne McDermott Giambrone (Jerry) of Lake Hiawatha (R.D. Boonton), NJ; Eileen Citro of Denville, NJ; Philip McDermott (Betsy) of Roanoke, VA; Maureen McDermott of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; Kathleen Eastman of New Brunswick, NJ; James McDermott of Morris Township, NJ; Jane Contarino (Len) of Bridgewater, NJ, and Amy Carter (recent widow of Tom), of Denver, CO. Nieces (10) and nephews (6): Cathi Shefski (Richard), Palmyra, VA; Tony Citro, Jr., Denville, NJ; Colleen Eastman (Tyler Milonis), New Brunswick, NJ; Amanda McDermott, Virginia; Josiah Contarino (Chloe), East Hanover, NJ; Rebekah Hayward (Scott), Bridgewater, NJ; Hannah Contreras (Paul), Belleville, NJ; Natalie, Noah and Leneah Contarino, Bridgewater, NJ; Dylan McDermott Carter and Olivia Carter, Denver, CO; Noah and Victorianna Belcastro; and Sean and Belinda Belcastro. Great nieces (4) and nephews (6): Anne Cummins (Nick), Maggie Post (Ben), Sarah, Taylor and Zoe Shefski; Gideon, Micaiah, Jairus and Lazarus Contarino; and Titus Hayward. Brothers-in-laws (2): Vito Belcastro (Jeanette) and James Belcastro (Roberta). Predeceased by sister-in-law Joanne Belcastro. Burke, Jr. (Candi); Brian L. McDermott (Donna); Kathy J. Kyte; Pat Tomlinson (Keith); John T. McDermott Jr. (Leanne); Nancy McDermott; and Timothy McDermott (Alice). Predeceased by James T. McDermott, Jr. in 1965 and Geoffrey O. McDermott in 1992. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 31, 4-8 pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Rd., Lake Hiawatha (973-335-4700). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Feb 1, 12:00 pm at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Baldwin Rd., Parsippany. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Ave., East Hanover, with the burial service to be held in the St. Giles Chapel - not graveside -- due to the extreme weather temperatures this week. Flowers will be graciously accepted.
