Obituary of SISTER MARIA ANNE PALKOVICS

Sister Maria Anne Palkovics, 91, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at The Villa at Florham Park, NJ.
Sister Maria was the fifth child of seven children born to Ferdinand and Anne (Vrablic) Palkovics.
She entered the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth on September 7, 1946 and was engaged in the ministries of education, social work and pastoral care for seventy-two years.
After graduating from the College of Saint Elizabeth with a BS in Elementary Education, she began her teaching profession; teaching in the Archdiocese of Newark for forty-six years. Sister Maria taught at Sacred Heart School and Saint Rose of Lima School, Newark; Our Lady of Victories School, Jersey City; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Schools in Ridgewood and Tenafly; and Our Lady of Lourdes School, West Orange.
For the next fourteen years, Sister Maria was engaged in Social Work and Pastoral Care for senior citizens and the infirm at New Community Douglas Homes, Newark, Saint Vincent Nursing Home, Cedar Grove and Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Elizabeth. She retired to Saint Anne Villa in 2013 where she continued to minister to others and served as Sacristan in preparing for the celebration of Mass.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity, one being her sister, Sister Regina Rose Palkovics; many loving and attentive nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; one great-grand-nephew and two great-grand-nieces.
