Walerian Kurdyla passed away peacefully Thursday evening, June 27, 2019 at his home in the Whippany section of Hanover Township, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. He was 97. Born on April 16, 1922 in Jasliska, Poland, he immigrated to the United States with his wife and seven children in 1967. They settled in Irvington, NJ before moving to Whippany, NJ in 1979. Mr. Kurdyla had worked as a machinist with the Standard Optical Company of Livingston for twenty years before his retirement in 1984. Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Bronislawa (nee Zawada); seven children and their spouses, Stefania Slowakiewicz (Wladyslaw) of Parsippany, NJ, Wanda Bukowczyk (the late George) of Little Falls, NJ, Richard Kurdyla (Stella) of Clark, NJ, Boleslaw "Robert" Kurdyla (Anna) of Florham Park, NJ, Chester Kurdyla (Margaret) of Denville, NJ, Mary Skomial (the late Jerzey) of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, and Sophie Costanza (Frank) of Parsippany, NJ; twenty three grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren. Walerian was preceded in death by six siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to Saints Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 215 Hill Street, Boonton, NJ 07005, or the charity of one's choice.
