Obituary of MARIE LENTINI
Please share a memory of MARIE to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Lentini (nee LaMonica) passed away peacefully at The Troy Hills Center in Parsippany, on Monday September 16, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old.
Marie was born in Manhattan, NY and grew up in the Hells Kitchen neighborhood. After she met her future husband, Fred Lentini, and they got married, Marie and Fred moved to Cliffside Park, NJ. She and Fred raised their family there, and she was a resident for 60 years before coming to Lake Hiawatha.
Marie was a real city girl. She truly enjoyed going to the city, visiting the old neighborhood and taking in the sites and sounds. She would regularly take her grandchildren to Broadway plays and every year she would take them to visit the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center.
For Marie, life was always about her family. Her five daughters, and one son. And later on after her children got married and had children of their own, it was all about her grandchildren. Marie spent countless hours with her grandchildren, taking them to New York City, teaching them to play cards and eventually playing poker with them. They will always remember the Robert Munsch book, Love You Forever.
When Marie became a resident of the Troy Hills Center, she quickly made friends and was loved by all at The Center, especially the caring staff. She will be greatly missed.
Marie also had a special devotion and love for The Lord. She would receive communion daily and pray The Rosary.
Marie was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Santa; her husband, Fred; her son, Fred, Jr.; and her sister, Katherine Espinosa.
Marie is survived by: her daughter, Santamaria Montalbano and her husband Anthony of Bergenfield, NJ; her daughter, Nina Kelly of Plano, TX; her daughter, Rosanna Terranova of Whippany, NJ; her daughter, Anita Ferrante of Sandy Hook, NJ; her daughter, Elena Marinelli and her husband James of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; her beloved fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
