Obituary of PHILLIP BERKEBILE

Galen Phillip Berkebile, known by all as Phil, passed peacefully away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at his home in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82. Born in Atlanta, GA he was a longtime resident of Westfield, NJ before coming to Lake Hiawatha, NJ 35 years ago. Mr. Berkebile earned his Bachelors Degree from Franklin and Marshall College. He was the proprietor of Berkebile and Sons Photographers in Westfield, NJ for many years. Later, he worked as a mortgage banker with Washington Mutual in Union, NJ for 30 years before retiring 12 years ago. Phil was a beloved member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany for over 50 years, and a faithful parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany. He is survived his beloved wife of 32 years, Maureen (nee Kline); his loving children, Cheryl Berkebile Stowell and her husband, Shawn of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Whitney Berkebile Niles and her husband, John of Glen Rock, NJ, Kathryn Martell Littel and her husband, John of Seattle, WA, Susan Araneo and her husband, Leonard of Barnegat, NJ, Kim Martell Jones and her husband, Chris of Wharton, NJ, Kevin Martell and his wife, Rhonda of Morris Plains, NJ, Christopher Martell and his wife, Moira of New Providence, NJ and Maribeth Minardi and her husband, Neil of Morris Plains; his sister, Gretchen Berkebile of Scotsdale, AZ, and his brother, Peter Berkebile of New Mexico; 18 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
