Dr. Sureshchandra Upadhya passed away suddenly Friday, January 31, 2020 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains. He was 92.
Born in Surat, India he immigrated to Ghana, West Africa in 1961, and later to the United States in 1998 settling in Montville Township.
Dr. Upadhya earned his degree in medicine from the University of Gujarat in India.
He was a physician at the Effia-Kwanta Hospital in Ghana, West Africa for 25 years before retiring 27 years ago.
He is survived by his wife Ansuya S. Upadhya (nee Smart); four children Jyoti Desai of West Windsor, NJ, Vimalkumar Upadhya of Montville Township, Hiran Upadhya of Texas, and Dipti Waghray of Texas; a sister, Laxmiben V. Smart; and six grandchildren, Rahul V. Upadhya , Ravi V. Upadhya, Seema D. Desai, Amar D. Desai, Shishir R. Waghray, and Shruti R. Waghray. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rameshchandra Upadhya and nareshchandra Upadhya; and a sister, Sushila Bhutt.
