Sister Dolores Walsh, 79, (formerly Sister Mary Dolores), a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Monday, March 30, 2020 at Saint Joseph's Healthcare and Rehab Center, Cedar Grove, NJ.
Sister Dolores was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of Daniel and Florence (Scanlon) Walsh. She attended Saint Patrick's School and the Academy of St. Aloysius, both in Jersey City. She entered the Sisters of Charity on August 20, 1958 and was a member for 61 years.
Sister Dolores graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.A. degree in English. Sister Dolores served in education and pastoral ministries in New Jersey and West Virginia. She was a teacher at St. Columba School, Newark; St. Lucy School, Jersey City; Our Lady of Victories School, Jersey City; St. Peter School, Jersey City and St. Peter School, Belleville. She was Pastoral Minister at St. John/Holy Cross Parish, Mullins, WV. She was certified as a Hospital Chaplain through St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, CT and became a member of The National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC). She served as a Staff Chaplain at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, WV and at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV. She moved to the Convent of Saint Elizabeth in 2011 and served as a Volunteer Chaplain at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity and cousins Jack and Pat McMahon and Ellen Ford and their loving families.

IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC HEALTH, ALL SERVICES AS WELL AS THE INTERMENT AT HOLY FAMILY CEMETERY, CONVENT STATION, WILL BE PRIVATE. A MEMORIAL MASS AT HOLY FAMILY CHAPEL WILL BE SCHEDULED IN THE FUTURE WHEN RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED.
