This book is in honor of Sister Rose Barrood who was at the bedside of Grandma Livenspire when she died on September 21, 1991, at RWJ Hospital. Sister Rose guided me to pray and profess my love for Grammy saying that my love for her would accompany her to heaven. The last moment of Grammy’s physical life, the glory of God shown through her beautiful blue eyes with brilliance. Even the doctor called me into his office before I left to speak about it. He was thankful for seeing that. Thank you to Sister Rose. What a testimony to her guidance & love as a woman of God to people in this world. Thank you, Sister Rose. Ruth Anne (Rada) Mulhern

Sister Rose was my Grandmother's best friend since Kindergarten and I know they are rejoicing in heaven together. As my Sunday school private teacher, Sister Rose was very patient and loving in teaching me the key scriptures of Faith. I hope I will continue to carry on her legacy of love and care as I teach Sunday school at Rahway Oasis Christian Center where I have joyfully served the Lord for over 8 years as a teacher for teenage/elementary school age children. As my Teacher for my confirmation lessons, Sister Rose was so encouraging that I took her name as my confirmation name lol which is also my Godmother's name so that worked out perfectly. While I have many stories of Sister Rose, my Grandmother ( Helen Kagdis), and I spending countless days together going to Pierre's for lunch and enjoying church activities, there is one private story that truly exemplifies the heart of Sister Rose. One day, years ago shortly before my Grandmother passed away Sister Rose invited me to her home. After enjoying a very pleasant visit involving her encouraging me as always to become a Sister by telling me the order is always looking for pretty ladies such as myself lol, she leaned in and with her warm smile insisted I spend the night since I might get lost driving through New Brunswick by myself. Naturally, I did as I was told and stayed over in her beautifully decorated guest room painted yellow. I remember feeling such a sense of peace/calm that evening. As I awoke the next morning, she was preparing a healthy breakfast when she encouraged me to remember to eat healthy and take care of myself. Well, I still prepare healthy meals today in my kitchen where on the wall a beautiful painting of hers depicting a Rose with yellow background hangs with reverence. Thank you Sister Rose for pouring into my life and providing me with the roadmap to lifelong service to the Lord I continue to use today! While I will not be following in your footsteps as a Sister as I have plans to marry this Fall, I hope you look down on my service to the Lord with that beautiful smile on your face continuing to light my way with your love!
Love Always,
Jenny McKiernan

Sister Rose was a wonderful person. She was self giving after the example of Jesus. She had a special place in her heart for children, the sick, the poor and her family as well as her family of the Sisters of Charity.
She was a humble soul. She was blessing to me so many people. She loves sowing and painting. She even painted a portrait of me. God bless Sister Rose ! Fr. Joseph L. Desmond
