Obituary of JOHN M. VELETTO

Mr. John M. Veletto died Wednesday evening, April 13, 2005 at his home in Parsippany. He was 73. Born in New York, NY, he was raised in Tarrytown, NY and Litchfield, CT. He had lived in Hackensack before coming to Parsippany in 1967. Mr. Veletto was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He had served in Korea and Japan. He was a graduate of the New York University School of Commerce where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and held member ship in the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Mr. Veletto was the owner of Three K's Perma Ceram Co. and Tubman Bathtub Refinishing both of Parsippany for the last 25 years. Previously, he had worked as a general manager with the Simes Company, a lighting fixture manufacturer in College Point, NY. He was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany where he volunteered with the Good Samaritan Ministry. He had served the children of Parsippany as a volunteer coach in the town's soccer, baseball, and basketball programs. He initiated the drive to begin a girls soccer program at Parsippany High School in 1982 and served as president of the PHS Parents Soccer Association for four years. Mr. Veletto was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 10184 in Parsippany, the Parsippany Kiwanis Club, and the Parsippany Republican Club. He was also elected to and served four terms as a member of the Morris County Republican Committee for District 23. Survivors include, his wife of 40 years, Martha (nee Olsavsky) "Marti"; two sons, Keith Edward Veletto and his wife Corinne Fitzsimmons of Parsippany and Kevin Michael Veletto of Mine Hill; a daughter, Kimberly Shanahan and her husband Brian of Fairfax, Virginia; and his four grandchildren Evangeline Anne and Quintin John Veletto and Torin Pierce and Bryce Taite Shanahan.
