Obituary of PATRICK R. De MARE

Mr. Patrick R. De Mare Jr. died Sunday morning, July 17, 2005 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 79. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived most of his life in Boonton before moving to Parsippany in 1971. Mr. De Mare served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Japan. Following the war, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Miami. He had worked as an accountant with the Security Fund Agency in New York, N.Y. for over 40 years before retiring as the company's president five years ago. He concurrently owned and operated the Route 46 Recreation Center in Parsippany for 37 years. Mr. De Mare invented and held the patent for the I.Q. Baseball Machine, the first automated pitching machine in the country, which was used at his recreation center. He was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany, and a member and past president of the Order of the Sons of Italy, Lodge #2561. He served as a commissioner for the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Stoppers, and was a member of the Morris County Chapter of the 200 Club. An avid golfer, Mr. De Mare also served on the Board of the Knoll Country Club in Parsippany. He was preceded in death by his brother John De Mare. Survivors include, his wife of 41 years, Marcia (nee Zollner); two sons, Patrick R. De Mare III and his wife Karen of Hillsboro and Peter A. De Mare and his wife Tracey of Boonton; a daughter, Linda Montefusco and her husband John Jr. of Parsippany; a sister, marie Mascia of Montville; and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Patrick IV, Alex, John III (J.J.), Eric, Olivia, and Peter Jr.
