Obituary of MARGUERITE GRACE TUTTLE

Mrs. Marguerite Grace (nee Peebles) Tuttle died peacefully Friday, August 19, 2005 at her home in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was 84.
Born in Saugerties,New York, she spent her childhood in New York State but lived most of her adult life in in West Orange and Convent Station, New Jersey, as well as Atlanta, Georgia and Charlottesville, Virginia.
She was trained as an artist in New York City. For her outstanding talent and achievement she was awarded a year's study in Paris that she was regrettably unable to accept due to the German invasion of France that year. She later attended the Art Student's League in New York City and the Morris County Community College in Randolph, New Jersey.
Mrs. Tuttle had worked as an illustrator with Bell Laboratories in New Jersey during the 1960's and gave generously of her time to many charitable organizations.
She possessed a remarkably creative intelligence that, along with many other endearing characteristics, helped make her a most delightful and beloved spouse, parent and companion. Her kindness and gentle disposition won the hearts of many friends who will sorely miss her. An avid gardner, she was also a devoted savior of stray animals and wild life, and was adored by many pets throughout her life. During her final days Hospice of the Piedmont, along with Ms. Gwen Turner, assisted with unfailing compassion in her care.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Burge Tuttle and a daughter, Cheryl Tuttle O'Brien.
Survivors include: a daughter, Virginia Grace Tuttle; a brother Paul Peebles and his wife Mary; two grandchildren, James J. O'Brien III and Kerry Virginia O'Brien Janis; nephews, Michael, Robert, Paul, and Brian Peebles; a niece, Dorothy Genung, and other nieces and nephews of her late husband.
