Please share a memory of LUISA to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Luisa Tapia Ilao died a peaceful death on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Township. She was 95.
She was born in the Philippines on February 10, 1910 to Filino Tapia and Catalina Zaragoza. Her husband, Baldomero, an Aglipayan minister, was taken hostage by the Japanese forces during World War IIand died in 1943.
Luisa was an avid tennis player in her younger years and a homemaker and businesswoman. She was a strong woman who raised five children with the help of her parents during difficult times. She came to the United States in 1963 and resided in Orange, Boonton Township and Dover. Her happiness was being around and caring for her young grandchildren until three years ago, when she entered the nursing home. She still delighted in their visits to her; her eyes would sparkle and a big smile would cross her face when she saw them.
In addition to her husband Baldomero, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Noemi Aguilar last October and four sisters. She is survived by four children: Romeo Ilao of Philipsburg, NJ, Amor McGuinness of Boonton Township, NJ, Rito Ilao and Carmen Miley of New York City; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
