Obituary of WILLIAM J. REGAN

Mr. William James Regan died Friday morning, September 30, 2005 at Care One at Parsippany following a brief illness. He was 72. Born in Queens, NY, he was raised in Manhattan, NY and lived in Bayside, Queens, NY before coming to the Pine Brook section of Montville many years ago. Mr. Regan had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a firefighter with the City of New York for 35 years. He was stationed at various firehouses throughout the city as he moved up the ranks before retiring as a Battalion Chief in 1992. Mr. Regan was a longtime member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Montville where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, was active in the Knights of Columbus Council, and the Right to Life Committee. He was also active in the Visitation Ministry which visits and brings Communion to the hospitalized and incarcerated. He had volunteered as a peer counselor with the Counseling Division of the New York City Fire Department. Despite his retirement, he returned to counsel fellow firefighters following the events of September 11, 2001. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Sally (nee Vasquez); five sons, Keith M. Regan and his wife Kelly of Tennessee, Edward J. Regan and his wife Mary Ann of Boonton, Christopher P. Regan and his wife Anna of Point Pleasant, William G. Regan and his wife Ranee of Pine Brook,and John C. Regan and his wife Christine of Kinnelon; two daughters, Paula A. Taylor and her husband Michael of Montville and Jennifer L. Wilson and her husband John of Towaco; and fourteen grandchildren.
