Obituary of DORIS BAXTER

Mrs. Doris (nee Keegan) Baxter died Saturday morning, June 24, 2006 at Care One at Parsippany. She was 85. She joined her beloved husband of 63 years, Thomas J. Baxter, who died just four days earlier. Born in New York, NY, Mrs. Baxter had live in Bronx, NY and later Brick, NJ for 20 years before moving to Parsippany three years ago. She had been employed as secretary to the principal at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic School in Bronx, NY for over 20 years, retiring 23 years ago. Previously, she was a school crossing guard for the New York City Police Department in Bronx, NY. She was the 1st of 5 women who were commissioned in the Class of 1954, which was the first year women were allowed. Survivors include: two daughters, Claudia Jean Nardi of Parsippany, and Ursula Bennett of West Chester, PA; three sons, Thomas A. Baxter of Florida, John J. Baxter of New York, and Gregory Baxter of Colorado; a brother, John Keegan of Florida; a sister, Elaine Carroll of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
