Obituary of MORRIS FRIEDLAND

Mr. Morris Friedland died Saturday evening, March 24, 2007 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 85.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he had lived in Jersey City and in Lake Hiawatha and Parsippany for over 50 years before moving to Florham Park 2 years ago.
Mr. Friedland was a 1942 graduate of Rutgers College School of Pharmacy. He served in the United States Army during World War II and had been stationed in England.
Mr. Friedland had been the owner of the former Beverwyck Drugs and Hiawatha Drug Store in Lake Hiawatha and also owned the Newfoundland Pharmacy in Newfoundland. He later worked as a hospital pharmacist with Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains and St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken before retiring 10 years ago. He was a longtime member of the Lake Hiawatha Jewish Center before its closing.
Mr. Friedland was active with the Free and Accepted Masons. He was a longtime member and ambassador with the Colonial-Kane Lodge #55 in Rockaway. He served as the group's Worshipful Master from 1988-1989. He served as Chaplain for the Grand Lodge of New Jersey in 1991. He was also a member of American Legion Post #249 of Lake Hiawatha and had received an award from the post for 50 years of service.
His beloved wife Frances (nee Klotz) died in 2001.
Survivors include: a son, Samuel Friedland and his wife Louanne of Oregon; a grandson, Ben Friedland of Oregon; and his cousins, Larry and Hope Kalish and their children Brett, Ari, and Jared, and David and Terri Kalish and thier children William and Adam.
