Obituary of VINCENT H. BURKE

Mr. Vincent Henry Burke died Thursday morning, June 14, 2007 at Atlantic Hospice at Care One in Morristown following a brief illness. He was 78. Born in Nutley, he had lived in Clifton before moving to Montville 50 years ago. Mr. Burke served stateside in the United States Airforce during the Korean War. He was employed as an electrician with P.S.E.&G. in Newark for 19 years retiring 14 years ago. Previously, he worked in the same capacity for 25 years with the I.B.E.W. Local # 164 in Hudson, Essex, and Bergen counties. Mr. Burke was a charter member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Montville. He was a lifetime member of the Pine Brook Volunteer Fire Department in Montville Township where two other generations of his family, his son Robert and grandson Kevin both volunteer as well. During his tenure, he had served in various capacities including Chief. He was currently serving as Fire Commissioner. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years,Ann E. (nee Hastie); a son, Robert Burke and his wife Marel of Coventry, NY; three daughters, Kathleen Rudowsky and her husband John of West Milford, Eileen Wishnie and her husband Victor of Basking Ridge, and Laure Uphoff and her husband Karl of Long Valley; a sister, Anna Mae Liddle; a sister-in-law, Catherine Stratford; and eight grandchildren, Michelle and Kevin Burke, Lauren and Jennifer Rudowsky, Samuel and Amanda Wishnie, and Samantha and Jessica Uphoff.
