Frederick M. "Fred" Rigoletti died Wednesday morning, April 30, 2008 at his home in Parsippany following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 90.
Born and raised in the Mountain View section of Wayne, he and his wife Mary had lived briefly in the Towaco section of Montville before moving to Parsippany in 1968.
During World War II, he was stationed with the U.S. Army in Foggio, Italy. He served 4 1/2 years with the B-17 Bomber Group.
Mr. Rigoletti was a self-employed excavator, an avid gardner, fisherman and a good friend to many, many people.
He had been a volunteer fireman with the Wayne Fire Department, a member of the American Legion Post in Montville, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a supporter of the Fireman's Home in Boonton.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary (nee Sumon) Rigoletti, a nephews and several great-nephews.
Services and cremation will be private. For those so desiring, memorial donations to the Fireman's Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 would be greatly appreciated.
