Obituary of JOSEPH V. WAGNER

Joseph V. Wagner died peacefully Monday afternoon, October 6, 2008 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's Hospital/Dover. He was 84.
Born and raised in Passaic, he had been a resident of Montville since 1941.
Mr. Wagner served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during World War II; he traversed the Atlantic and Pacific many times and received many ribbons for his service.
He had worked as a serviceman with Suburban Propane in Whippany for 23 years before retiring in 1982.
Mr. Wagner had been a longtime member of the Montville Reformed Church where he had served as president of the Cemetery Committee and on the Building and Grounds Committee. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 5481 in Montville and the Montville Township Seniors.
His hobby was that of a superb woodworker and he produced many craft items.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eleanor M. (nee Griek); a daughter, Ruth Wagner and her husband Bill Blois of Lincoln Park; a son, Joseph Wagner and his wife Alethea of Towaco; two-step grandchildren, Eric Blois and Alena Browne; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
