Salvatore "Sam" Montalbano died suddenly Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville following an apparent herart attack. He was 73.
Born in Belleville, he had lived in Bloomfield before coming to Parsippany in 1951.
Mr. Montalbano had worked in the restaurant business from a young age. He had worked as a chef at his family's business, Casa Montalbano in Parsippany, for many years. Later, he was the owner of Sammy"s Sandwich Shop in Pine Brook and Sammy's Hot Dogs on Route 46 in Parsippany. He retired 17 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Margaret Montalbano, a brother Emmanuel Montalbano, and his beloved nephew Joseph Ombaldo.
He is survived by his sister, Jennie Ombaldo of Parsippany.
