Lynne & Jerry,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I will always remember our wonderful time together in Brandywyne. It was comforting to come home to a "full house" - Laura, Natalie, dear vain Farrah with the hair, and sometimes Anita, as well as the Sound of Music. You are such wonderful caretakers and provided such a warm home. You are an inspiration, and I don't know if many (including myself) can give the way you've given. God Bless & With Love, Therie

Her loving spirit Knew no bounds
She saw the best in everyone
She gave so freely of herself
Expecting nothing in return
Her thin lipped smile warmed our hearts
Her sweet laughter brought joy to our homes
She has touched so many lives
Planting seeds of beauty in each one
We all weep for what we've lost
But under our tears there lay smiles
As if we all share a sweet secret
So fortunate to have been part of her life
And part of the memories she left behind

To the entire McDermott family: I have so many wonderful memories of your mom. I loved being at your house, (and spent quite a bit of time there!). With all those children and all their friends, there was always so much going on, and no matter how chaotic or busy things got, your mom was always smiling, kind and sweet. She always took the time to talk to me, welcoming me to stay for dinner and sleep over. (Oh yes, I remember waiting my turn for the bathroom!) Time and distance have not dulled these great memories - I love you all and am holding you in my heart at this very difficult time.

I have nothing but sweet memories of Natalie. When I went to have our marriage license filed she rushed right over to do it when she recognized me, even though it wasn't really her job at the time. If memory serves me correctly, it was only a few months before she retired.
Another time, a few years later, she was visiting our church with Len and Jane. We were asked to hold hands with the people around us, and Natalie was right behind me. She held my hand so gently; it is something that has always stayed with me.

How precious the memories of being welcomed, loved, included by Natalie. She was for me, as for so many others, a mother and a mentor. Her eyes smiled even with tears; her generous heart and hands made room for everyone, anytime.Laughter and affection were signatures in the cadence of her day. Sealed forever in my mind are the countless hours perched at the dining table, battling for a spot in the McDermott bathroom with the "clan", recollecting trivia of music and film(thinking of Natalie to this day whenever I see Ingrid Bergman or Grace Kelly), and just relishing the blessing of having the gift of her precious love in my life through dark days and bright ones. May the arms of Jesus envelop each of Natalie's children and the entire family as the loss, the sorrows, are embraced. May His peace comfort beyond understanding at this solemn time. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers...our love to all. Kirby and Roseanne

To All My Dear Friends and Neighbors,
How well I remember the countless hours I spent in your home with all of you. Your Mom was like a second mother to me, always more than happy to have me stay to dinner (she made the best darned baked chicken pieces I've ever had) even though she had so many mouths to feed. I used to just walk in through whatever door was closest at the time, and she always greeted me with a smile.
I remember helping with the laundry, housework, laundry, dishes, and laundry. Did I mention laundry?
On the rare occasions that she got dressed up to go out somewhere with your Dad, I still can see her in a fancy shirtwaist dress, heels, and lipstick, looking radiant and quite a bit younger; more sophisticated and (dare I say it) sexy than usual. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out.
She has crossed my mind of late more and more frequently. I suppose in her own way, she was freer than the rest of us to reach out across time and space to tap those she loved on the shoulder to say goodbye. I think I felt her tap.
Natalie was a huge part of my life, always there, always welcoming. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. Goodbye, Natalie. I love you.
