Obituary of MICHAEL N. SORCE

Michael N. Sorce, died peacefully Monday morning, Febuary 8, 2010 at his home in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany, surrounded by his loving family. Hew as 75. Born in Glen Ridge, he had lived in Bloomfield before coming Lake Hiawatha 46 years ago. He served in the United States Army during peacetime. Mr. Sorce had worked as a machinist with North American / Phillips Lighting in South Plainfield, formerly a division of Westinghouse in Bloomfield, for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Parsippany and the Westinghouse Birthday Boys. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Alison A. (nee Whelan); his three children, Alison Herbst and her husband Richard of Parsippany, John Sorce and his wife Anne Marie of Boonton, and Michelle Herbst and her husband Darren of Parsippany; two sisters, Rosemarie LaVacca and her husband Albert of Lakewood, and Alice Headrick and her husband Robert of Barnegat; eight grandchildren, Vanessa, Ashley, Richard III, Travis, Nicole, Donna, Michael and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Jason Levitz for all his loving kindness and care of Michael.
