Obituary of THOMAS T.J. J. McDERMOTT

Thomas James "TJ" McDermott died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 64. Born in Plainfield and raised in Jersey City, he had been a resident of Parsippany for the last 30 years. TJ served in the U.S Marines during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a flagman with the CSX Railroad in Kearny and previously the Pennsylvania Railroad for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Helena and his beloved son Thomas Jr. "Tommy Mac" in 2003. Having no remaining blood relatives, TJ cherished his "family" including his best friend of over 30 years, John Conradi, Aunt Kay and Uncle Bill Conradi, Laura Greenberg, Bill Conradi, Aunt Connie and Frank Gengaro, and his "sisters" Diane Gowe, Marann Santora, and Joanne Truglio. He will also be missed by his dogs Katie and Annie. TJ was always a guy you could count on. He offered his help to anyone who asked. His family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for their outstanding care of TJ during his illness.
