Obituary of ROBERT W. SMEDBERG SR.

Robert W. Smedberg Sr. died suddenly Saturday morning, January 29,. 2011 at his home in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany. He was 84. Born in Nutley, he was a resident of Kearny before coming to Lake Hiawatha in 1960. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Navy "CB's" and was stationed in Okinowa. Mr. Smedberg was a truck driver with Liquid Carbonic in Kearny for 33 years, retiring 20 years ago. Previously, he worked in the same capacity with Newton Trucking also in Kearny. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 249 of Lake Hiawatha. Preceded in death by his son Kurt Smedberg in 1981, he is survived by his four chldren, Nancy L. Hubay (Michael) of Belmar, Kim Kaminski of Lake Hiawatha, Robert Smedberg Jr. (Sandra) of Brick, and Richard of Wilmington, North Carolina; two brothers, Kenneth of Spring Lake,and Roy of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Callan, Michael, Jonathan, Robert, Christopher, Ryan, Kristin, Michael, and Kyle; and four great-grandchildren.
