Obituary of RUTH SCHLUETER HAGERTY

Ruth Schlueter Hagerty died peacefully, Saturday morning, July 2, 2011 surrouned by her family at the Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton Township. She was 92.
Born in Cincinnati, OH., she had lived in Philadelphia, PA., Rutherford, Toms River, and Oake Ridge before coming to Boonton Township on 2005.
Mrs. Hagerty worked as a secretary for the Catholic Charities Office on Aging with the Diocese of Newark for 20 years before retiring 30 years ago.
She was a former member and past president of the Rutherford Women's Club and the Catholic Women's Club, both of Rutherford. An avid bridge, scrabble and tennis player, she also loved to dance. She and her late husband had won several dance competitions in tango and waltz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hegarty; a daughter, Barbara Skorupski; and two brothers, Bill and Jack Schlueter.
Survivors include her children, John M. Hegarty of West Orange, Ginny Paccioretti of Oak Ridge, Irene Beck of Mountain Lakes, and Maggie Fiorino of Boonton; a sister, Marilyn Ludden of Maine; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
