Florentina Supen Mercado died suddenly Tuesday morning, August 9, 2011 at her home in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany. She was 87.
Born in Santa Barbara, Ilo Ilo City, Philippines, she was a longtime resident before coming to the United States in 1980, settling in Lake Parsippany. She had lived the last 15 years in Lake Hiawatha.
Mrs. Mercado earned her Bachelors Degree in education from the University of San Augustin in Ilo Ilo City. She had worked as an elementary school teacher while living in the Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen S. Mercado, and two siblings Amancha DeLeon and Leovigildo G. Sepe.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Hamplish D. Mercado, Sr.,; her seven children and their spouses, Maria Eva Patwa (Dr. Ramesh), Hamplish D. Mercado, Jr. (Leonida), Hildreth Alamo (Oscar), Arthur Mercado (Madeline), Juliana A. Banzon (Francisco), Mary Jane Arcinas, and James Mercado (Shanel); two siblings, Edward G. Sepe and Leda S. Herrerro, countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
