Herman Liss died Thursday morning, January 26, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. He was 87. Born and raised in Paterson, he had lived in Clifton before coming to the Pine Brook section of Montville Township 44 years ago. Mr. Liss was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served on the destroyer USS Jobb in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was employed as a commercial and industrial realtor with Weichert Realtors Morristown Office for 25 years before retiring 15 years ago. Previously, he worked as a supervisor with various dry cleaning companies, and had owned the Town and Country Dry Cleaners in Rochelle Park. He was active with the USS JOBB Navy Reunions, the AEPi Fraternity at Georgia Tech, and was a former member and past president of the Rochelle Park Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bea S. (nee Soriano); a daughter, Debrah Ann Hillsley and her husband David of Abington, PA; a sister, E. Dorothy Sponder of Miami, FL.; two grandsons, Christopher and Peter Hillsley; and three great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Samantha, and Ryan Hillsley. Arrangements are private. No public memorial is scheduled. Memorial Gifts can be made to one's favorite charity.
