Obituary of FRANK W. APITO

Frank W. Apito died peacefully Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. He was 86.
Born in Montclair, he had lived in Bloomfield before moving to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany in 1956.
Mr. Apito served in the United States Army Aircorps during World War II. He participated in the battles of the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He had worked as a mail carrier with the Montclair Post OFfice for 35 years before retirirng in 1981.
Frank was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 3680 of Parsippany, American Legion Post 249 of Lake Hiawatha and was a member of the Lake Hiawatha Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret DeFrancesco. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen (nee Martin); four children, Paul Apito and his wife Susan of Glastonbury, CT., Michael Apito of Lake Hiawatha, Andrea Hayde and her husband Neil of Asbury Township, and Thomas Apito and his wife Rosaly of Roseland; a sister, Florence Simek; and four grandchildren, Chelsea, Brian, Alexandra, and Francesca.
