Obituary of CATHERINE EVANS SPIES

Catherine Evans Spies , age 85, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died January 20, 2012. She was born on February 22, 1926 in Jamaica, NY. She had lived in Mountain Lakes and Parsippany before moving to Stewart, Florida 25 years ago. Mrs. Spies spent many years as a volunteer with various hospitals, including Martin Memorial Hospital in Florida , and Meals on Wheels. She was the daughter of the late Anne and Robert Evans. She married John J. Metelski in 1945. He died in 1965. She then married Walter A. Spies in 1969. He died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by four of her children, Susan Metelski, Karen Breckenridge, John Metelski, and Robert Spies. Mrs. Spies is survived by a son, Thomas Metelski of Aberdeen, MD; two daughters, Jane Ann Hodge of Parsippany, and Barbara McDaniel of Ashville, NC; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
