Sr. Mary Ellen has been one of my dearest friends since we first met in the mid eighties at Resurrection Parish in Randolph, N.J. I was saddened to learn of her death. Recently she had been on my mind and I had meant to call her - that is my biggest regret that I did'nt!! My husband, Colm and I shared many wonderful times together. She considered my family as hers, as did mine did also. She was a great lady - none better.
Ar dheis De go raibh a hAnam. May her soul be with God.
Rita and Colm O'Shea.

I worked with Sister Mary Ellen for many years at CSE. What I remember most about her was her wonderful laugh and her love of bright colors. (That red car of hers was something else). She would often stop by my office for a brief chat which always turned into something to laugh about. She was a beautiful, caring person and I miss her.
Rest in peace, old friend.

I had just started working at the College of Saint Elizabeth when it was the graduation. I had to go into the Mother House, and Sister Mary Ellen was sitting by the front door. She looked at me with the most beautiful smile I think I have ever seen. She said, "Oh,hello, Fran, I've heard all about you." She made me feel like she had been waiting for me, and I felt so welcome. I loved her immediately and have never stopped. She was my champion and my dear, dear friend. Even after I left CSE, we continued to meet for lunch, always at the diner in Madison where everyone knew her name. I would always made sure she got one of my homemade Irish soda breads every March. We Irish have to stick together. I will always feel so blessed to have had her friendship, and I will treasure the memory of it.

Sister Mary Ellen was my great mentor and friend! She hired me for the Assistant Archivist position at the American Bible Society, when I was just starting my life in America. She was a great friend to our family. We used to meet every summer at Friendly's on Rt 124 to exchange news. I will miss her greatly. Dear Mary Ellen I know you look at us now from the Father's home and asks how my kids are doing. We are all doing fine and we pray for you soul, as you always prayed for us.
